Banners
While working at Workthing virtually all of the banners that I produced were for use on the main Workthing.com site. We are given quite strict guidlines to work with both in regards to image size, and the file size of the image. All banners for the site must be 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels high, and no more than 12KB in file size.

This is my favourite banner out of those that I've done, but it very nearly didn't happen. The original brief called for an animated banner with the logo and the text “Retail careers that come 1st every time”. When I saw the brief the idea came to mind quite quickly, and luckily it was a bit of a quiet day so I had the time to see if I could bring it to life. Originally, Fireworks was telling me that the exported banner would be nearly 30KB in size, more than double the allowed limit! After reducing the number of colours as much as possible and a few of the not so necessary frames the banner was still coming out at 13.74 KB. Thankfully though, a rare exception to the rule was made and this banner was allowed onto the site.
Jessops
This is my second favourite banner, and has a similar background to the all:sports one in that the original brief was for an animated banner with the Jessops logo and the text, “Retail Opportunities Nationwide”. I had intended to use an image of a fim canister from the Jessops site, but when a quick search didn't find anything, I decided that it'd be quicker and easier to build the graphics from scratch. The end result, after a bit of optimising for file size is shown below, the border has been added to the image for this site to differentiate it from the background colour.

Buttons
Another form of on-site graphical promotion that is used quite a lot are buttons on the sector front pages across the site. The largest of the buttons are 172 pixels wide and 66 pixels high, with a file size limit of 4KB. Below are a couple of examples of these buttons that were produced for a PSA Peugeot Citroën campaign.
